Chad Norris is the ex-husband of Aynsley Norris. They had two children, and lived on the same street as the Hendrixes. Aynsley and Chad were good friends with Alison and Donnie. One evening, Chad and Aynsley suggested "mixing things up"; at first Donnie and Alison thought in stunned silence they meant an orgy, before awkwardly realising this was not the case. Instead Chad performed a magic trick, and suggested magic mushrooms. Although Donnie did not (due to sensitivity to them), the three other proceeded to get high.

He seems to be submissive to his wife, Aynsley, who was seen often snapping at him in "Variations Under Domestication". Because of their complicated relationship, both had cheated on one another, possibly on more than one occasion. He had an affair with a spin class instructor and also had a sexual encounter with his wife's best friend, Alison Hendrix.

Months later, Chad had become depressed. He and Aynsley's two children lived at her mother's. He met Alison one day and expressed that he blamed himself for Aynsley's death, that their public sex had driven her to a form of suicide.
