Henrik "Hank" Johanssen was a mercurial modern-day cowboy and one of the shadowy religious extremists ideologically opposed to the clones. But Johanssen is a new breed of zealot. He leads a flock of followers that have broken away from the Old World Prolethean brotherhood. Under his messianic vision, the age old divide between science and religion has merged, forming a new and formidable threat.

Biography[]

Season 2[]

It was found out that Henrik planted eggs in women because as Mark says, "To multiply is divine." Because Helena lived and was considered a miracle, Henrik wanted to take advantage of Helena's genetics. He even put the fertilized eggs into his daughter Gracie. Helena did not understand what was being done to her; she thought she was just going to give birth to children. Gracie reveals to Helena in "Things Which Have Never Yet Been Done" that Henrik was trying to spread Helena's genes as much as possible, even in herself. Helena then tries to run away, and Gracie decides to come along. They are caught by Henrik, who knocks Helena down, and locks Gracie away. Mark defies Henrik and saves Gracie, while Helena takes down Henrik, injects some random DNA into him using an artifical insemination device (apparently anally), and burns down the Prolethean compound.
